I just LOVED SNL before it got all political...
Yeah, they actually said that with a straight face
Following the SNL 50th anniversary show last weekend, I've seen a seemingly non-stop parade of folks loudly proclaiming that they "LOVED Saturday Night Live before it got all political!" They tend to sputter and harrumph then fall silent after I point out Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford, Dan Ackroyd as Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, Dana Carvey as Bush I and Ross Perot, Will Ferrell's W (“You’re welcome, America!”), etc. and the fact that Jesse Jackson, George McGovern and Barry Freakin' Goldwater have all hosted and contributed scathingly funny political commentary. Not to mention Weekend Update and everything else I've either forgotten or chosen not to mention here.
No, these dipshits vaguely remember laughing when Mike Meyers showed up in drag for a kaffeeklatsch or when Chris Farley lived in a van down by the river. No buddy, your sense of humor atrophied as you tacked right in your dotage.
"Before it got all political" my Aunt Fanny...
