Hamilton 86, a demerara rum from Guyana, is one of the more popular rums around the tiki scene. It's a molasses-based rum blend of column and pot distillates aged up to 5 years. The "86" denotes that it's 86 proof, or 43% alcohol, which packs a little more punch than the common 80 proof spirits common on U.S. shelves. That's a great combination for the complex, layered flavors of tiki cocktails, but how does it far in the stripped-down, three-ingredient daiquiri where there's nowhere to hide? Watch and find out!
